Generation X
The world tells us Generation X is made up of folks born between 1965 – 1980, but we know being Gen-X is more of a mindset than a date range.
It’s about leaving your house in the morning and not coming home until the street lights come on. Hopping on your bike to go exploring and nobody knows where you are until you get home. Up before anyone else for Saturday morning cartoons, eating cereal out of the box. The independence of coming home to an empty house after school, cooking your own dinner and taking care of younger siblings while your parents worked. Losing days at the mall hanging out with friends, and spending all our money playing arcade games.
We are the generation on whom modern technology cut its teeth. As kids, we were the TV remote control. Somebody would chuck a pillow at you to tell you to turn down the volume. We were raised on VHS, Betamax, Laserdiscs, Polaroids, Walkmans, boomboxes and homemade mixtapes. We were the first kids to lose ourselves in video games – Atari, Nintendo, Intellivision – and the first to use home computers.
If we didn’t know how to do things, we figured it out. It was a time of adventure and discovery and we did it all on our own.
We’re Generation X and we’re proud to be feral as f*ck.
Hand drawn and inked, then digitally-coloured, X-FAF t-shirts and merch are the result of two friends in Toronto joining up to create and sell original cool stuff.
Being of the Gen-X persuasion ourselves, we’ve launched our site with designs pulled from key items and moments from our childhood. If you’ve got a request/suggestion for a design, let us know!
What’s up with our name? Our generation grew up largely unsupervised. But we survived, and we’re proud of what it taught us. X-FAF stands for “Generation X – Feral As F*ck”.
