Boombox: How we listened to 80s and 90s music.

The first portable personal sound system, the BOOMBOX was how we listened to 80s and 90s music. These suckers ran on batteries the size of a V8 can, and blasted AM/FM radio, cassette tapes, and sometimes even vinyl. Listening to the yearly Top-100 on the local station and taping your favourite songs, praying the DJ would stop chattering before the lyrics started. Blasting out across your bedroom, your neighborhood, echoing through the cement jungle where the breakdancers (and skateboarders!) grooved to the new sounds.
